Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art, combat sport, and a self defence system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting.
BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique, taking the fight to the ground – most notably by applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the other person. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts(MMA) competition or self-defense....
BJJ is the first thing that got me in the gym, I wasn't really sure what it was to start with, and the whole concept confused me, but from my very first class, I was hooked, the whole concept of the fighting technique seriously interested me. So from then on in I smashed the BJJ training, attending every class I could.
2014 Is going to be a crazy year for me, I am in the position to be able to compete (as before I used to work weekends) so this year, I will be competing a lot this year! So far I have signed up to the IBJJF Europeans in Lisbon.
