Big Girl BJJ Problems

These are just some of my problems with being a 100kg BJJ Partitioner !

1. Having to wear mens Gis instead of womens…

2. because of this, the thighs on the pants never fit right, and you are unable to retain any type of guard because you can’t move your legs with enough freedom..

3.Because of this I have to wear odd gi pants and jacket.. and that plays on my OCD!

4. Constant worry of your rash guard or compression shorts slipping up to show of your mid rift or excessive thigh (no gi) and by excessive thigh I mean anything above the knee!

5. Worrying incase you accidentally land to hard on your rolling partner and crush them..

6. Then not using your weight correctly in rolls because you are worried of hurting them or ‘just sitting’ on them.

August16-17th Grapplethon Congleton

In aid of The Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust

August 16-17th Grapplethon, Congleton, Cheshire
- For those who dont know, a Grapplethon (  is an event where practitioners can roll BJJ for 24 hours (shifts/slots or the full 24 hours!!) This event is open to all practitioners, reguardless of affiliation or club, All belt levels welcome, its all about having fun, doing what we love and raising money for a great cause. What leads me to The Donna Louise Trust, The Donna Louise Trust (

is a children's hospice for Staffordshire and south Cheshire, they provide care and support for children with shortened life expectancy or those who, due to illness or injury have a life threatening or life limiting condition. This amazing trust provides emotional and pratical support for children and their families at their homes and at the hospice. The hospice is based in Trentham, Stoke-on-Trent.
It costs £2.5 million a year for them to deliver their vital service.

BJJ & Surf Camp - El Salvador

A very tired and Jet-lagged Jodie Bear here! But it was worth it!
So as you may have seen in my last entries, I was heading over to El Salvador to Christian Graugarts BJJ and Surfing camp.

Now to say that it was paradise is an understatement! I mean WOW!
You know when you look through a travel magazine and you see the typical paradise photos, well I was actually in this kind of place, absolute paradise!

Europeans 2014

European Championships 2014

Lisbon, Portugal

This was my first ever IBJJF and International competition so needless to say, I was a tad nervous!
The guys at the club helped me prepare so much for the competition, of which I am forever grateful! Me and Chief DB (Mandy) travelled over there on the Wednesday ready for my fight on the Thursday.
There were lots of people to meet! Friends from the UK, Ericeira and Lanzarote who I also trained with, Also people from the Icon family from around Europe.
